70-Year-Old
Man Killed In Home Invasion

A 70-year-old man was killed in an apparent home invasion on
Olive Street on Saturday morning.
Detectives from the Chattanooga Police Departments Major Crimes
Division are currently investigating what was the city’s 11th
homicide of the year.
Officers responded to an unknown trouble call at 906 Olive St.
around 5 a.m. Once on the scene officers found that entry had
been forced into the apartment through a rear door. Upon
entering the apartment they found the resident lying on the
floor. Upon closer examination it was determined that he was
deceased.
At this time, the exact cause of death is undetermined and
police are awaiting the results of the medical examiner’s
report.
According to witnesses at the scene, they heard a loud commotion
around 5 a.m. and looked outside to see what was going on.
Witnesses advised that they saw what appeared to be four to five
young black males running from the area with items in their
hands.
No other suspect information or descriptions are available at
this time.
The victim is John Calvin Smith, of the same address.
